DaSHeR
DaTucker's Stamp Harvester & Extractor
a Rabenauge release
DaSHeR is a small companion tool for Retro Commander. Point it at your collection of .d64 images - loose or packed in archives - and it harvests the dir-art it finds - crack-group logos, frames, title boxes built from directory entries - into stamp sets that Retro Commander reads, ready to stamp onto your own disks.
What it does
- Scans your collection as it is: a folder of .d64 images, subfolders included, loose or inside .zip, .gz, .7z, .rar, .tar and .tgz archives - or one archive, or a folder inside one.
- Fast: the scan runs on 1 to 16 threads, one tile per thread showing the disk it reads.
- Keeps a disk list (.rcdisks) of every disk it read, marking those with dir-art. A stopped scan picks up where it stopped, a new one skips the disks it already has, and Rescan all reads everything again.
- Finds dir-art with a strictness slider: PETSCII logos, frames and dash-framed text boxes - also a box drawn inside the file names behind a numbered prefix, a box as tall as the directory that splits into its sections as strictness falls, and a drawing set between two separator lines, its credit line included.
- Browse in real PETSCII: open the disk list at any strictness, see each disk's dir-art, and join and split stamps in a Disk view that re-detects the source disk live.
- Writes stamp sets (.rcstamps) that Retro Commander reads, skipping exact duplicates.
- Collect into a Current set: Make stamp takes what you picked from the harvest into the set you are building, saved at every change. Rename, credit and delete stamps, and keep the set's name and credits.
- Retro Commander stamps: export a stamp or a whole set as the small .d64 files Retro Commander already reads, straight into its Stamps folder, and import them back.
- Dir-Master 7.3 stamp files: import them, and export as .prg files or one .d64.
- Free, for Windows.
Windows 10 or 11, x64. One .exe in a zip; unpack it anywhere and run it.
This is an alpha. It works, but expect rough edges: keep copies of the sets you care about. Found something? Tell us.
Logos you harvest are their creators' work - credit them when you share sets.
