What's new in 0.9.4 · build 8456

  • In-disk deep dive, now with a viewer for everything - open a disk image and the pane becomes a full, authentic C64/C128 PETSCII directory listing, not just a dressed-up file list. Select an entry and a typed viewer opens for it: BASIC listing or hex for PRGs, info cards for SID tunes and CRT cartridges, the real character-ROM rendering for PETSCII screens, and a document viewer that auto-detects and decodes geoWrite (VLIR-aware), PaperClip, Easy Script, SpeedScript, Tasword 64 and VizaWrite. Anything without a dedicated viewer still gets a proper hex dump instead of garbled text. Its own 40/80-column toggle is remembered per pane.
  • Sneak peek: DirArt Workbench - a first look at building PETSCII / filename directory art straight onto a disk, with a canvas, palette, presets and junction tools. It's early: the app shows a one-time warning before it opens, because right now it demonstrates the idea rather than being something to rely on yet. Feedback on the rough edges is welcome.
  • Drag & drop fixes for filename art - cross-disk drag previews now show DEL/CBM/DIR marker rows instead of hiding them, and dropping entries with duplicate or blank names lands them in the right slot instead of risking a mispositioned copy.

Previously, in 0.9.3

  • Play .mus straight from a disk - Compute! Sidplayer tunes inside a D64 now play with F1, Enter or double-click, on the C64U and in an emulator.
  • One hex viewer everywhere - C64 entries, PC files and the F3 viewer now share a single engine: real C64 addresses for PRGs, smooth line-by-line browsing through files of any size, and a glyph column that switches PETSCII → screen codes → ASCII.
  • Emulator mode - a launch-target switch in the toolbar. Point it at VICE, Denise, Hoxs64 or another configured emulator and F1, mounts and SID/MUS playback launch on your PC instead of the C64U.
  • Diskbench, smarter slots - the free slot previews whatever you select in the navigator: ZIP contents, PRG/SID/CRT info cards, text and word-processor documents.
