What's new in 0.9.3 · build 7018

  • Play .mus straight from a disk - Compute! Sidplayer tunes inside a D64 (even a D64 inside a .zip or .7z) now play with F1, Enter or double-click - on the C64U and in an emulator. Previously only loose .mus files on disk would start.
  • One hex viewer everywhere - C64 entries, PC files and the F3 viewer now share a single engine: real C64 addresses for PRGs, smooth line-by-line browsing through files of any size (even gigabytes), a glyph column that switches PETSCII → screen codes → ASCII, and an 8/16-bytes-per-row toggle that remembers your choice. Unsupported PC formats (mp4, wav, bak, …) preview as hex instead of garbled text.
  • Emulator mode - a launch-target switch in the toolbar. Point it at VICE, Denise, Hoxs64 or another configured emulator and F1, mounts and SID/MUS playback launch on your PC instead of the C64U. Mount becomes attach-only; .mus tunes are converted on the fly (PSID for VSID, a self-contained player program elsewhere).
  • Diskbench, smarter slots - the free slot now previews whatever you select in the navigator: ZIP contents as a real file list, PRG/SID/CRT info cards, text and word-processor documents. Select a file inside one slot's disk and its viewer opens in the other free slot, with a close button to get back. The Ctrl+Shift case toggle now works on every Diskbench surface.
  • Document viewer polish - word-level wrap that follows the pane width (Alt+Z), and the rich hex viewer (real C64 addresses + PETSCII column) is now the one hex view everywhere.
  • Clicking empty space in a pane now reliably focuses that pane; clearer Diskbench toolbar icon; shorter emulator preset names.

Previously, in 0.9.3

  • Word-processor viewer - read classic C64 documents right in the preview pane: SpeedScript, Easy Script, PaperClip, VizaWrite, Tasword 64 and geoWrite (text), with format auto-detect, a manual format switch and hex view. geoWrite documents are read straight from the GEOS VLIR structure, German special characters included.
  • Compute! Sidplayer playback - press F1 on a .mus file and it plays on the C64 with a bundled player and info screen, synced lyrics from a sidecar .wds included.
  • In-disk deep-dive navigator with authentic PETSCII listing and typed viewers: BASIC listing / hex for PRGs, SID and CRT info cards.
  • Crash reporting - unexpected errors are captured locally and reported on the next start, so beta issues get fixed faster.
